Boldest Award Nominations
Jon is a member of the Pontypridd Sing with Us Choir and member of the Pontypridd Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care fundraising group.
Jon joined the Pontypridd Sing with Us choir in 2015 and has become a core member. Using his links in the community he’s created relationships that have led to different events and fundraising opportunities.
He’s at all of the fundraising events bucket collecting and speaking to people about the work of Tenovus Cancer Care. Every week he has a new idea up his sleeve! He often stands at the front of rehearsals explaining the latest fundraiser and asking people to get involved.
Sadly, his wife Tracy passed away earlier this year. The choir sang at her funeral and donations went to the charity, raising over £1000.
It takes a lot of courage, bravery and resilience to care for someone who is terminally ill, to keep positive and keep going in your day to day life; so to be doing that and at the same time raising awareness and fundraising for the charity is really bold.
Hayley is an ACTivate Your Life Course Presenter and has led sessions since the beginning of the service.
Hayley had the task of leading the first ever ACTivate Your Life - Affected By Cancer course. She already had a good understanding of what the charity does and threw herself head first into the brand new service, wanting to understand the mechanics of the course and the logistics of how the service could work in the community.
Hayley attended every session and as a result was appointed the lead. She was responsible for beginning every session and welcoming guests as they arrived, ensuring questionnaires were filled in correctly and collected at the end. Hayley was respectful and warm to each of the clients who attended and it was clear that she wanted the best for them.
Hayley showed herself to be a fantastic presenter. She’s confident in her ability to teach others and present the materials, and she has a clear and calm manner.
Karin is a Retail Assistant at our Whitchurch Road shop in Cardiff, and has been there since it opened over 30 years ago.
This year will mark 31 years of Karin volunteering at the Whitchurch Road shop. Karin has been, and continues to be, a major asset to the shop in many different ways. However, most notable is the way she promotes fundraising events such as raffles and tombolas.
Karin is fantastic at chatting with customers in the shop about getting involved with fundraising. When she covers the till point, no one gets past her and most customers take part! It’s rare indeed to see anyone approach customers in such a bold manner, but it really works.
Karin has taken on the challenge of selling tickets in the shop for the 75th Birthday raffle this year and so far she is responsible for 90% of the sales!
