Gillian Morton

Gill is a member of the Sing with Us Llandudno choir, and a founder member of the Llandudno Friends of Tenovus fundraising group, an individual fundraiser and a Welcome Desk volunteer at the choir.

Following her cancer diagnosis Gillian never thought she'd reach 60. But once she did, she wanted to celebrate still being here. She’s currently undertaking the challenge of climbing 60 mountains whilst raising funds for Tenovus Cancer Care.

The way she tells her story is inspiring; giving hope and encouragement to others. She focuses on what's good, the emotional and financial support she received and continues to receive from the charity, and the benefits of singing in the choir. Gillian embodies Tenovus Cancer Care because she’s bringing something very positive out of her situation.

Each week she helps at choir, turning her hand to anything to help ensure the smooth running of rehearsals, making choir a welcoming and happy place especially for new members.

Gillian is kind, considerate and she gets things done, her positivity knows no bounds.

Laura Morris-Lloyd

Laura is a member of two Sing with Us choirs, Pontypridd and Cardiff North and is a fundraiser in the South Wales area.

Laura was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in her late teens. Since 2012, after losing her mother to cancer, Laura has worked tirelessly to raise funds for Tenovus Cancer Care. She says that singing in the choir and the friendships she’s made have been a great source of support and comfort, and she’s gone on to support many people around her.

Laura’s sense of adventure and fun is manifested in the events she’s been involved in. She’s always ready to help, frequently in fancy dress, to raise smiles and more money.
She encouraged her son Gabriel to trek to Tanzania when he was just 17. The last year has been difficult, sadly losing her sister Denine to cancer. In her memory Laura will be completing a bike ride in Vietnam and Cambodia with Gabriel.

Laura is truly inspirational. She’s loyal, caring and would do anything to help others. She’s not let cancer define her and is a positive role model for anyone affected by cancer.

Barbara George

Barbara is a member of the Wrexham Sing with Us choir, a former member of the Wrexham Friends of Tenovus fundraising group, and is now a current member of our Research Advisory Group.

Barbara is an incredibly inspiring woman who’s had her own experience of cancer. She jointly runs the Breast Cancer Support Group in Wrexham, and has been extremely supportive of the choir, undertaking the role of a Choir Champion promoting the Sing with Us service in the area, but without wanting the title and the glory.

She also represents Tenovus Cancer Care in the North East Wales Cancer Patients and Carers Forum.

She has amazing contacts and she was, until a few years ago, the Chair of the Wrexham Friends of Tenovus fundraising group, where she did an amazing job; only stepping down due to her re-diagnosis of cancer.

Despite this, she is always supporting people through difficult times and runs a group for ladies living on their own, mostly through bereavement or cancer. She has most recently been selected to take part in the charity’s Research Advisory Group, which having worked in science her whole life, is something she is really enjoying being involved with.
