Brains staff cycle 52 miles raising over £2,500
Staff from Wales’ biggest hospitality company, SA Brain and Co, have raised almost £2,500 for Tenovus Cancer Care by completing a sponsored bike ride from Brecon to Cardiff.
Nineteen employees from Brains and Coffee#1 started the gruelling ride from The Wellington Hotel in Brecon town centre and finished at The Dock in Cardiff Bay, cycling a total of 52 miles in one day.
They stopped off for well-deserved refreshments along the way, including a warm welcome by the team at The Lewis Arms in Tongwynlais and were met by family, friends and colleagues in the Bay.
Joe Muldoon, manager of The Yard in Cardiff city centre, even managed to completed the entire ride on one of the new ‘Nextbikes’ available in the city.
Carys Jenkins, corporate relationship manager at Tenovus Cancer Care, said: “It was a brilliant effort by all involved and on behalf of everyone at the charity I would like to say a big well done and thank you.
“Once again Brains and Coffee#1 staff have worked incredibly hard to raise lots of money for Tenovus Cancer Care and their work will make a real difference to cancer patients across Wales.
“They made their miles matter and for every mile cycled, they raised enough money to support one cancer patient to have their chemotherapy on board our mobile units, closer to home.
“The team smashed their original £2,000 target and are now just £10 short of £2,500. Since becoming charity partner in 2015 Brains staff and customers have raised an amazing £144,086 and I’m sure they will reach a whopping £150,000 before too long.”
