We want all our volunteers to feel they have the skills they need to be happy in their roles.
We also want to make sure our volunteers can develop during their time with us. To do this we have an induction for all volunteers and on-going learning and development opportunities.
Your volunteer induction
We know it can be scary starting somewhere new, but we’ll make sure you have plenty of time to settle into the Tenovus Cancer Care family, and lots of opportunities to ask questions.
We’ll take the time to introduce you to the team and show you round where you’ll be working, including all the important things like the loos and the kettle! Everyone will have an induction which will cover:
- All about Tenovus Cancer Care including our founders, who were all volunteers!
- Important information to keep you and those we support safe (Health and Safety, Data Protection etc)
- What we expect from you as a volunteer and what you can expect from us
- How your volunteering makes a difference
We’ll give you an induction pack with lots of information, and you’ll also have access to this electronically as well as extra information which you may find useful.
What about more Learning and Development?
Whatever reason you’re volunteering, it’s always good to develop your skills. We want to help you do this so you feel and happy in your role. We have a range of classroom based training and a suite of e-learning which you can access as volunteers.
Chat to your supervisor about your development and they can help suggest the best course for you to take part in!
