Anyone who has lived experience of cancer treatments as a patient or carer

What do participants need to do: Sign up here. If chosen you will be asked to attend two meetings throughout the year
How long will it take? Each meeting will last up to three hours
Will participants get paid? Yes, £25.00 per hour and the covering of reasonable travel and childcare costs
Who can take part? Anyone who has lived experience of cancer treatments as a patient or carer

Help researchers develop new cancer studies by sharing your valuable perspective.

You will need:

  • experience of treatment for cancer, either as a patient or carer
  • to be able to read documents for meetings
  • to be familiar with public involvement in health research or on a committee
  • experience of working as part of a team
  • to be a competent IT user for both document handling, attending Teams meetings and for sending occasional emails

A Trial Steering Committee (TSC) oversees clinical trials by making sure they follow procedures, monitoring progress and making recommendations about the trial.

You will join the steering group as a public member and attend two meetings each year to provide your feedback on the studies as someone who has lived experience of cancer treatments as a patient or carer.

You will need to attend two virtual meetings a year, in June and December and each meeting will last up to three hours.

Before the meetings, you will need to read the documents, proposals and reports, and you will on occasion need to answer email queries.

You will be needed for at least two years.

Cardiff University will:  

  • Cover reasonable travel expenses and additional carer or childcare costs,
  • Offer payment for time of £25.00 per hour (people can request less if they are in receipt of state benefits).
