Llais are the new Citizens Voice Body for Health and Social Care in Wales, and their role is to represent the patient and public voice in regard to health and social care services. Llais work with their communities, engaging with different people and hearing their views and experiences so that they can share these with local providers. From what Llais have heard, they can make representations to health and social care services, to make them aware of what people think of their services and where improvements can be made.

Llais Cardiff & Vale have just launched their ‘Living with cancer’ project, and are keen to hear from individuals, families and groups around their experiences of living with cancer, whether they are currently going through treatment or have had past experience of living with cancer. Cancer can be a life-changing and emotional experience for people and families and can have an impact on every part of a person’s and family’s life and cannot be seen as an isolated issue.

While Llais are aware of the services available, it would be helpful to understand in people’s own words what the cancer journey for both patients and families are like, whether it be good or whether areas could be improved. Llais need to understand what matters most to people going through a very difficult time, and whether their needs and worries are being met by health and social care services in the local area.

Whilst Llais welcome any feedback around people’s experiences of living with cancer, they also want to make this project impactful and ‘real-life’ by having in-depth discussions with individuals and families around what it is like living with cancer and how this has impacted on their daily life. If you would like to share your experience with Llais as an anonymous patient story, to be recorded and included in their project, please contact the local Llais office to discuss this further with their team.
