Supporting you through treatment and beyond
We know that talking to someone regularly can help lift the burden of any worries or concerns you may have during cancer treatment.
That’s why the Tenovus Cancer Care Callback service offers regular supportive chats and post-treatment assessments to make sure we’re there for you when you need us.
What is the Tenovus Cancer Care Callback service?
Our free Callback service is available in English and Welsh and can support you throughout your cancer treatment. With your permission, the hospital staff will make a referral to Tenovus Cancer Care and you’ll get a series of regular calls from one of our dedicated Cancer Specialist Nurses who can answer the questions you may have about your diagnosis and the symptoms you may be experiencing following treatment.
Should you need them, we can also directly refer you to other support services that we offer such as Welfare Benefits Advice, and our Virtual Sing with Us choirs, or recommend other appropriate services in your area..
When will the Tenovus Cancer Care nurse make the calls?
A nurse will call you five days following your first treatment, once again seven days later and then a further phone call every month for the next four months. Once your schedule of calls is complete, our free Support Line is open 365 days a year with our team of nurses on hand to help with any further questions or concerns that you may have.
Our Support Line is open 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, and 10am – 1pm on weekends and public holidays. If you call outside those hours, just leave a message and we’ll call you back.
If you prefer to write things down, you can use our Ask the Nurse service by clicking here. Just submit the form and a nurse will come back to you by email or arrange a call at a time to suit.
The service is completely voluntary. If you decide not to participate or want to withdraw at any time, it will not affect any future care you receive from the NHS or Tenovus Cancer Care. We work collaboratively with healthcare providers and this service is in addition to your care at the hospital.
Our nurses, and the staff at the hospital, will work closely together to provide you with the best possible care. Any information your nurses share with us will be stored securely in line with the General Data Protection Regulations 2018.
