Gift Aid is a really easy way to make your donation to Tenovus Cancer Care go even further. That means we can offer life-saving help to more people.

If you're a UK taxpayer, you can increase your gift by 25% which makes a huge difference to how much money we can raise.  Gift Aid is a government scheme which lets us claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate or we make by selling your donated items in our shops.

Once you've signed up to Gift Aid, you don't need to do anything else, we'll claim the tax back on your donation.

How Gift Aid makes a difference to us

Last year we raised £359,871.85 from Gift Aid, but we could raise so much more if everyone who was eligible signed up. For example, if someone donated £200 to us, we could claim an extra £50 in Gift Aid. That extra £50 would pay for one of the following:

- Help cover the cost of a call on our Support Line
- Could provide life-saving cancer treatment on board our Mobile Support Unit
- Cover the cost of a choir session for a member of a Sing with Us choir.

Who is eligible for Gift Aid?

- You need to be a UK tax payer
- The money or items you're donating belong to you
- You pay more money in income tax, than the amount that you Gift Aid in any tax year. For example, if you donate £500 over the course of a tax year, we can claim an extra £125 through Gift Aid (maxing your donation worth £625). You need to pay more income tax during the tax year than £125 to be eligible. If it is less, then it is your responsibility to pay any difference

- If you're retired, you can Gift Aid donations if you pay income tax or capital tax or capital gains tax providing you have paid enough tax during the year to cover the amount we reclaim on your donations. If you live on your pension alone and do not pay tax you will nor be eligible for Gift Aid.

- If you pay income tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your self-assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
