Why am I needed?
10YFan sees participants climb Pen Y Fan, not once but 10 times in just 24 hours! Join us as we support our team of 40 trekkers taking on this challenge at our basecamp! You’ll help to motivate our trekkers by being a smiling face offering hot drinks, snacks and a comfortable place to rest throughout the full 24-hour experience. You’ll be supported by a member of the Tenovus Cancer Care team throughout the event who’ll help guide you.
What will I be doing?
- Making hot drinks and offering snacks for our trekkers
- Offering support and motivation to our trekkers throughout the challenge
- Talking to individuals – including trekkers, their supporters and general members of the public.
- This will include just general small talk, telling people about the event taking place and talking about Tenovus Cancer Care.
What skills do I need?
- A fun, friendly and outgoing personality
- Able to make a cracking cuppa
- Confidence and good communication skills
- Reliability, flexibility and punctuality
- An enthusiasm for the work of Tenovus Cancer Care and support people affected by cancer
How much time do I need to commit?
We really do appreciate any time you can give, but ideally, you’ll be able to help for one of the timeslots detailed above. Please note on your application what time slot you can help with.
What support will I be given?
- You’ll be provided with a brief when volunteering
- Support throughout the event by a Tenovus Cancer Care member of staff
- Information provided by email leading up to the event to provide further details

Where will I be based?
In the Tenovus Cancer Care support tent at Pen-Y-Fan. Parking at the national park is £7.50 per day, volunteers can claim this back.
