Why am I needed?

Our Fundraising Teams are always busy with new and exciting projects, and they are looking for some extra help. 

Your chance to join Wales’ leading cancer charity and support the charities fundraising activities and initiatives.  You’ll be joining an experienced fundraising team who generate over £2.8million each year. The fundraising and donations we receive help to support over 10% of people affected by cancer across Wales each year and we want to be there or many more.

Our fundraises and donors get involved in many ways, from running marathons, to playing the lottery to attending gala events, to name but a few. However someone chooses to support us, we want to make sure their experience with us is a fantastic one, from the support their receive during their fundraising to the thank you and the information about the positive impact that they’re gift will make to help fund our services.

Do you love speaking to people over the phone, supporting with admin and marketing or getting stuck in? If yes, then we need you!

This role is a varied one, from helping to prepare and get fundraising materials together for our supporters, data inputting to making calls to our fundraisers to thank them for their support and share with them the amazing difference that their gifts have on people affected by cancer.

What will I be doing?

Your main tasks will involve, but may not be limited to:

  • ·       Supporting our challenge event fundraisers by sending welcome packs, running tops, writing good luck postcards and thank you cards.
  • ·       Making telephone calls to supporters to thank them and update them about the difference their contribution has made.
  • ·       Emailing donors with charity updates and engaging them with how their support has positively impacted our services.
  • ·       Data entry, accurate and up to date data entry is essential. It means that we’re speaking to our fundraisers about what their interested in hearing about.
  • ·       Input data into our databases and spreadsheets making sure it is accurate and up to date.
  • ·       Assisting with day-to-day tasks, this could be helping with a mailing or carrying out research.
  • ·       Assistance in working on and developing different fundraising projects such as our annual Summer Raffle to Breast Cancer Awareness Month fundraising.
  • ·       Opportunity to visit and support at charity fundraising events.
  • ·       General admin office tasks

What skills and qualities do I need?

  • ·       Confident to speak on the telephone and thank supporters for getting involved. This could be to our challenge event participants or to our lottery players.
  • ·       Good conversation skills, we want our donors to know they’ve made difference, and conversation is key to this!
  • ·       Good IT, we need data recorded accurately.
  • ·       Volunteer in a busy office with lots to do from mailings to research and more in between. 
  • ·       A friendly and enthusiastic approach and the ability to get on well with others
  • ·       Excellent communication skills
  • ·       Methodical with good attention to detail
  • ·       Pro-active with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a flexible approach to tasks
  • ·       Ability to work as part of as team
  • ·       An organised approach to working and managing a project

What support will I be given?

  • ·       We’ll be on hand to support with how to talk to our supporters. We’ve got scripts to help guide conversations.
  • ·       There will be process notes on hand to help guide you through data entry but if there is anything you not sure about, we can help!
  • ·       You’ll receive an induction, training and development for your role.
  • ·       You’ll also have the opportunity to use our eLearning training system, with access to online courses.

Where will I be based?

For this role you will be at our Head Office, located in Jones Court, Womanby Street, Cardiff, CF10 1BR.

We’re always hosting different types of fundraising events that you might be interested in helping at too!

What about the hours? Specific day- Tuesday

We would ideally love our volunteer to help us out one day a week, preferably on a Tuesday each week.
