Why am I needed?
Join Team Tenovus Cancer Care at the TCS London Marathon and cheer with us! Join our cheer point on the halfway mark of the London Marathon and be a part of the incredible atmosphere and support our runners!
We need some volunteers to join our cheer point and help motivate our runners as they take on this amazing challenge.
What will I be doing?
- Supporting with setting up our cheer station and / or post-race reception with our banners and flags
- Cheering on our amazing runners (and being louder than anyone else on route!)
- Welcoming the family and friends of our runners to the cheer point and / or post-race reception.
What skills do I need?
- A fun, friendly and outgoing personality
- Confidence and good communication skills
- Reliability, flexibility and punctuality
- An enthusiasm for the work of Tenovus Cancer Care and support people affected by cancer
How much time do I need to commit?
We really do appreciate any time you can give, but ideally, you’ll arrive around 9am and be able to stay until 3pm. Please note on your application how much time you can give.
What support will I be given?
You’ll be provided with a brief when volunteering
Refreshments and snacks will be provided but please do bring your own lunch
What benefits can I expect?
- The satisfaction of knowing you’re making a vital difference to the work of Tenovus Cancer Care - especially the people who access our services
- You’ll be given a Tenovus Cancer Care t-shirt to wear on the day
- We’ll reimburse reasonable travel expenses in line with organisational policy
- The opportunity to volunteer at an iconic event, meeting lots of new people and being part of #teamtenovus!
- You will be invited to join us at our post-race reception after the race for a celebratory drink and to meet some of our inspirational runners.
Where will I be based?
Our location means that we see the runners just after they’ve crossed Tower Bridge – a high point in every runner’s race. This is a great location for atmosphere and, because the route doubles back on itself, you’ll see them twice; first at mile 13 (half way!), and then at mile 23 to help give them the motivation they need to finish their last few miles!
The Highway, London. A1203, Jet Highway Service Station / McDonalds.
