Our Summer Shows Round-up

As the summer season is nearing its end, we feel that it’s only right to reminisce on the fantastic Welsh shows we attended this year.
Along with meeting our incredible supporters, the purpose of our presence at these events was to spread awareness of our vital cancer support services, available to everyone affected by cancer in our communities.

Kicking things off was The Royal Welsh Show, taking place on the 22 July.

Throughout the very busy day, we were able to speak with many visitors and share all our latest news and information about the services we provide.

We caught up with our newest Patron, Welsh Rugby Captain, Hannah Jones. We also paid a visit to another of our long-standing Patrons, Wynne Evans. New Chair of Trustees, Tracy Burke, popped over to the stand for a chat and to show her support.

We’d like to say a special thanks/diolch to Castell Howell, for supplying us with cakes and water, that helped keep us and our visitors well fed and watered during the day.

The next stop on our Welsh tour was The Anglesey Show, on 13 and 14 August.

Staff and volunteers from across departments were on the stand, as well as our unofficial mascot, Teg the puppy, who attracted plenty of attention!

As well as raising awareness of our services, it was also the perfect opportunity to promote some of our local fundraising events, and we sold hundreds of Summer Raffle tickets.

We spoke to hundreds of people and made some great connections with stakeholders. Several of these conversations were with people recently diagnosed with cancer and we were able to signpost them to our services that would benefit them the most.

We also had lovely feedback from people who had benefited from using our services in the past.

Our final appearance this summer was at The Pembrokeshire County Show, on 14 and 15 August.

Another very busy and fulfilling show, where we were lucky to welcome and share our work with numerous visitors.

We caught up with long-time supporters, Ashmole and Co, who have kindly named us as their Charity of the Year.
Paul Fisher, along with Scarlets Community staff paid us a visit, who we will be working with in the very near future, so watch this space!

And the new First Minister of Wales, Eluned Morgan, also popped by for a chat to show her support.
