Fundraising FAQs
Yes! Go to our ‘Register an event’ page, tell us about what you’re up to and we can support you with promotional materials. There’s also tips and advice on how to spread the word as the more people who know about your challenge, the more you’ll raise!
Yes – simply visit our fundraising materials page and fill in the form. Please remember that all these things cost money for the charity, so only order what you need, and return what you don’t use.
Firstly, don’t let this put you off! It’s very unlikely that you’ll be doing anything wrong whilst trying to be a wonderful fundraiser, but please do click here for tips on health and safety, and fundraising regulations and rules.
Most of the time, yes, you can! For every £1 that’s donated (provided the donor is paying tax at the time of their donation) HMRC will give Tenovus Cancer Care an extra 25p. Find out more about Gift Aid here.
The quickest and easiest way is to set up an online fundraising page through Justgiving. It’s a trusted platform that people often feel comfortable donating on and the money you raise comes directly to us. It’s also a great way to make sure you’re sticking to Gift Aid rules. Plus you can set yourself a target and your friends and family can all see how you’re getting on! It’s also encouraging when you can see the total going up and up!
Alternatively you can request hard copy sponsor forms or download them online, or you can raise money directly via the Facebook donate function too.
If you’re using an online page like JustGiving or even Facebook Donate, and you choose Tenovus Cancer Care, the donations made will come directly & automatically to us.
There’s nothing for you to worry about. Some other platforms vary though or if you’re collecting cash of course, you’ll have to arrange to pay it to us, so please click here if you need more information.
When you’re fundraising it really is the more the merrier. We love people fundraising together and you can fundraise at work, at school, with a club or society or just by grabbing your mates.
If you’d like to fundraise but would prefer to have some help, you could join or set up a Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care group. Our groups are fun, friendly and make a real difference. They fundraise in the local community and help spread the word about our cancer support services. Find out more here.
The money you raise will go towards supporting cancer patients and their loved ones through our vital services. If you’d like to find out more about our services click here.
It is possible to raise money towards a particular service, however it’s much more efficient for us as an organisation to be able to allocate fundraising as and where it’s needed most.
Some of our services are funded through dedicated grants that our experienced team apply for but the vital funds you raise make sure that all our services get the funded they need, so thank you for supporting Tenovus Cancer Care!
If it’s an event that we’ve paid an entry fee for, for example the Cardiff Half Marathon, the places are highly sought after and we require you to aim for the fundraising target we’ve set.
If you’re just taking on your own challenge or activity, there’s no target and we’ll just encourage you to raise as much as you can.
