Volunteer Buying and Online Trading Administration Assistant

Why am I needed?

We are looking for a fabulous volunteer to work alongside our busy online Trading and Buying manager to give us a hand with the goods we buy and sell in shops and online.
The department a fast- paced one, which needs to generate sales to support the charity. This is an exciting new role for us in the Charity, to help assist one of our busiest departments with their workload.
Whether you would like a career in buying, online trading, or administration, and would to gain real life experience and exposure to compliment your studies, or existing experience, this is the Volunteer role for you!

What will I be doing?

Supporting our manager with a variety of administration tasks, such as:

  • Uploading images from various online systems, re-sizing the images and checking them for resolution
  • Copying links and text from one system to another, ensuring a high degree of accuracy
  • Working via our online press system, and following up requests and coverage by emailing editors and journalists
  • Reviewing our online shop, to ensure all images and pricing is accurate, and that product tags are correctly assigned
  • Setting up product data onto spreadsheets, obtaining information from other departments and/ or external suppliers
  • Assisting with new product selections alongside the Buying manager
  • Uploading product images and descriptions to our online shop
  • Other ad-hoc administration relating to buying and trading processes.

What skills do I need?

  • A friendly and enthusiastic approach and the ability to get on well in a small team
  • Good IT skills and comfortable working across multiple tabs/ multiple systems
  • Interest or skills in online selling, buying of products or merchandising
  • An eye for detail and good attention span
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach
  • Ideally have experience using Microsoft PowerPoint & Excel (basic level)
  • Pro-active with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a flexible approach to tasks
  • Professional manner when dealing with external suppliers

How much time do I need to commit?

We would love our volunteer to be able to commit to a half day a week, ideally between a Monday and a Thursday. You will need your own IT equipment (laptop/desktop) and ideally a second screen, as this makes the work easier. Work is done remotely, and all training is done online via teams. We do have a head Office in Cardiff which could also be used for your base, but training and supervision would still be done online.

What support will I be given?

  • The Buying and Trading manager will be on hand to support you in your role
  • Receive an induction, training and development for your role
  • You’ll also have the opportunity to use our eLearning training system, with access to online courses

Where will I be based?

You will be based working from home, or any remote location which is suitable for you. You will be required to use your own IT equipment for the work , and training calls. However, our head office location in Central Cardiff is also available for volunteers
